Developers: Apple Computer Inc.

Year: 1992

The unreleased Apple Computer product for the IIgs and //e, it would have superseded the Workstation Card. This had an additional init that replaced the ATalk init, thus called ETalk. While this card uses Ethernet for the media, it is not actually a TCP/IP card but rather an EtherTalk card. The hardware was capable of handling TCP/IP directly, and some routines are included in the ROM, but additional code was never finish to support TCP/IP directly on the IIgs from Apple Computer. Marinetti's MacIP Link Layer was written to take advantage of this card and then functionality was added for using the IIgs's inbuilt LocalTalk firmware as well.
