The New Print Shop came quite late in the day of the Apple II in 1990 and offered colour capabilities for the first time for 8-bit Apple IIs (although this might only extend to specifying single colours for different graphic elements in layouts). The Print Shop IIGS could already do colour; in fact multi-colour images could be used. Interestingly, a lot of the image library and fonts of The New Print Shop seem to come from The Print Shop IIGS.

I don't know what other improvements the New Print Shop has over the old one, but being available on 3.5" disk is another plus. This archive includes the sampler, party and school libraries as 800k images as well.

It's only hard drive installable if the 'original' disk is found in a 3.5" disk drive (slot 5, disk 1 presumably). A hard drive installable version would be great to enable 8-bit users to have all your graphics and font libraries on one handy volume, like the IIGS version.
