Orange Cherry could do electronic storybooks well because they required little interactivity (which was the usually the weak point in their offerings) and focused more on the graphics and animation (which in later releases, Orange Cherry were doing very well).
Readable Classic Tales includes 'The Elves & the Shoemaker', 'Puss in Boots', 'The Queen Bee', 'The Frog Prince' and 'Rumpelstiltsken'.
Each story needs to be read by kids themselves (the computer doesn't speak each page) and comprehension isn't reinforced by the inclusion of asking questions at the end of each page. The only option available during each story is to click on the action button, which reveals some animation.
The program will keep kids amused, but not indefinitely. Given that nothing ever changes to the stories, there's little to keep children interested after the first sitting. Most of the graphics are very well done, but some stories look better than others, given that different artists were responsible for the different stories.
Readable Classic Tales is a good effort, but not a brilliant one.
The program seems to have issues when launched from System 6 from its original disks, but works fine when properly installed to a single folder on a hard drive.
