Not what you think when you hear the name. The ZipDriveGS is basically similar to the Focus Drive but utilizing an off the shelf WDC chipset and a unique way of getting around the expensive Serial EEPROM requirement to load the parameters into the chipset on powerup. By using a few gates and storing the data in binary form, converting it on the fly, from the EPROM about $10 is saved on each card. Back in the day, they used to team up and get you hooked by optimizing FPGA's and such to work with certain serial EEPROMs so that the designers would be a captive audience of potential customers.
