Maybe there are TWO v1.7 floating about, but it seems unlikely. I then played with this in an emulator and it would seem that 1.7 works perfectly on a ROM01 GS and can happily choose another system to boot

If anyone knows how to get it working on a ROM03 GS or get 1.8 working correctly let me know

Cheers
Andrew

Posted to: How to setup Taifun Boot for multiple versions of GS/OS on one partition? Show Thread | Post Reply Wed, 10 Sep 2008 09:27:38 +0200 Drewbie https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/applications-forum/show/68?start=0#post84 Re: How to setup Taifun Boot for multiple versions of GS/OS on one partition? https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/applications-forum/show/68?start=0#post71 I found the problem through the wonderfully useful Google Groups, which keeps copies of all messages of comp.sys.apple2 since it began by the look of it!

Mark Percival wrote in an email that the version of Taifun Boot on Ninja Force's website (version 1.8) is in fact, buggy. So I found a download of version 1.7 on a Ground mirror, which included documentation which specified how to add each new system. Which is done by renaming each 'System', 'ProDOS' and 'Icons' folder 'System.1', 'ProDOS.1', 'Icons.1' etc, so Taifun Boot knows where to find each different system.

Posted to: How to setup Taifun Boot for multiple versions of GS/OS on one partition? Show Thread | Post Reply Mon, 18 Aug 2008 13:19:07 +0200 Alex Lee https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/applications-forum/show/68?start=0#post71 How to setup Taifun Boot for multiple versions of GS/OS on one partition? https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/applications-forum/show/68#post68 Hi all,

I’m confused. I’m trying to setup Taifun Boot v1.8 by Ninja Force (http://www.ninjaforce.com/downloads/TaifunBoot.shk) on a 32 meg ProDOS partition that already has System 6 installed. Taifun Boot allows you to setup different versions of the GS/OS, for example System 6.01, System 5.04, System 4, ProDOS 16 v1.3, ProDOS 8 v2.03, all on the one partition, then allow you to boot from your system of choice via the Taifun menu when you restart the IIGS.

Problem is, I can’t get it to work.

Installing Taifun Boot using the included BASIC installer program is no problem, and restarting loads up Taifun Boot, with System 6 listed as the first selectable operating system to boot from. System 6.01 had already been previously installed on the 32 meg volume.

However what I cannot figure out (and there is no documentation that comes with the program, and no info found on Google that solves my problem) is how to get Taifun Boot to recognise the System 5.04 folder I copy to the root directory of my 32 meg ProDOS volume.

Obviously, in copying another system to the same volume and directory where System 6 already resides, I have to rename the System 5.04 folder to ‘System.5’, to differentiate it from the existing System 6 folder. I can copy the ProDOS executable from the ‘System.5’ folder to the root directory and rename it ‘ProDOS.1’ as Taifun Boot expects.

But after rebooting back into Taifun boot, whenever I try to setup System 5, Taifun Boot simply boots into System 6.01.

Any ideas?

- Alex

Posted to: How to setup Taifun Boot for multiple versions of GS/OS on one partition? Show Thread | Post Reply Mon, 18 Aug 2008 00:09:10 +0200 Alex Lee https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/applications-forum/show/68#post68
