They were educational games made by either MECC or Scholastic or maybe even Spinnaker. I'm leaning towards Scholastic. It was a series of choose your own adventure style games. They had titles like Tales of Adventure, Tales of Mystery, Tales of Suspense, Tales of the Future (or from the Future?). I just remember they all had "Tales of" as titles.

One game involved you as a kid with your friend and somehow you run into pirates. Another game was set in a house/mansion and you had to solve a mystery. In Tales of the Future (may have been called Tales from the Future), you have to run as president and appease different groups. I think a school of fish was one group? I think there was even a game where you get miniaturized and travel inside someone's body.

These were all Apple IIe games, and were probably released in early to mid 80s and came in hard plastic packaging that seemed common with educational software back then. And once again, they were all "choose your own adventure" style, which means the entire gameplay revolved around making choices which took you down branching paths to different endings. The games had graphics displaying each area and text describing the scene and offering you a list of choices, like a simplistic text adventure game.

I also saw Electric Crayon was on this site, which helped a lot because I forgot the name of that program. But I didn't see the seasonal one I had on this site. Anyone know where I can find the copy of Electric Crayon where you color in holidays and seasons? I think the first picture may have had New Year's with an old man and a baby.

Posted to: looking for apparently rare IIe games Show Thread | Post Reply Sat, 30 Jan 2010 07:07:29 +0200 Maxor127 https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/educational-forum/show/304#post304
