As far as I know, yes, the box image on the site is what was included with the game, although of course it's not a box. By the time of Ancient Glory's release date, the IIGS was no longer a particularly viable platform to develop and release games for and any games around this time, with the exception of Out Of This World, were released simply in a shrink-wrapped package including a photocopied manual and the game disks.

I assumed there was a PC version of the game because it uses the standard EGA colour palette. That's particularly odd if the game was developed by California Dreams, because their previous IIGS games all took advantage of the graphics capabilities of the IIGS and never simply converted graphics from the DOS version.

It's entirely possible that the game was unreleased for DOS, but somehow, salvaged for a IIGS release. It was released by the Big Red Computer Club, run by John Wrenholt - he could possibly shed some light on the details of Ancient Glory's release.

Just a few things about this incredibly obscure game.

Is the box image for the game that's on this site really the box cover? It looks like something quickly whipped up in a word editor.

Also any ideas if the game came with a manual? The game is just so obscure on the internet that I'm wondering if it was commercially released in a box at all.

The review of the game here mentions a PC version, but it seems it was never released so the game is indeed a IIgs exclusive.
