It's called "The Analyst" and can be found on SoftDisk GS, issue #48.

It scans your Apple IIGS, and within several seconds, displays a detailed report on, well....everything. And yes, all on one page that can be screen saved or better yet, saved as a text file.

Under the 'General' section you see the actual speed of your ZipGS, TransWarp GS or stock machine (including cache size present on the accelerator card). ROM version of the machine and total physical memory installed.

Also has other details, like the GS/OS version, System Software release, all devices mounted (hardisks, RAM Disks, floppy drives, etc). Plus software drivers loaded, their versions, everything...

I have version 1.3 (circa 1993) written by Bryan Pietrzak.

Posted to: System information Show Thread | Post Reply Tue, 29 Oct 2013 09:54:28 +0200 Mitchell Spector https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=8#post1724 Re: System information https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1722 Apple Commander is a command line program that should work with Ubuntu (I don't know sorry, I'm strictly a Mac guy beyond the IIGS) that will enable you to view the contents of a .HDV file (as well as .POs, 2images, .dsks, etc).

http://applecommander.sourceforge.net/

- Alex

Posted to: System information Show Thread | Post Reply Thu, 01 Aug 2013 01:51:31 +0200 Alex Lee https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1722 Re: System information https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1721 I just want to view (watch) it.

Posted to: System information Show Thread | Post Reply Tue, 30 Jul 2013 23:37:12 +0200 OldGrampa https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1721 Re: System information https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1720 Sorry for the delay in replying again!

Do you want to 'open' the .HDV file to see its contents in Linux or do you want to use the .HDV with an emulator? For example, Instant Access v3. The standard System 6 preinstall image I provide on the home page of this site (http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/files/harddrive_image.zip) comes IA3, which you can find in the system folder. Once IA3 has loaded, go to the 'Options' Menu and select 'System Info...'. It will display total and free memory as well as the ROM version and CPU speed (although it's not very accurate).

Other programs you could check out include UtilityWorks (which is on the Audio and Utilities 32 meg volume available from the homepage) and Super Info III, an NDA available on the System Addons volume (look inside the NDAs folder, the Utilities.

- Alex

Posted to: System information Show Thread | Post Reply Wed, 10 Jul 2013 11:43:21 +0200 Alex Lee https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1717 Re: System information https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1716 Thank you for the reply.
I have a IIGS setup,
that I want to show on one screen,
what constitues my IIGS.
I would like to send a pic of the screen,
that would show Ram & CPU speed,
because this machine has a transwarp,
and some other chips on the motherboard.
I seem to remember there was some software made to do this.

Tx

Posted to: System information Show Thread | Post Reply Wed, 10 Jul 2013 06:18:06 +0200 OldGrampa https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1716 Re: System information https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1715 Hi OldGrampa!

The easiest way to find out how much memory your IIGS has is to intitate the old 3 finger salute of open apple–control–escape to bring up the classic control panel.

Select 'Control Panel' and then at the bottom of the selection, choose 'RAM Disk'. If you do this while no program is running, the total free RAM is a good indicator of much physical RAM you have installed.

As for CPU speed, you can control that from the control panel as well, although it only reveals 'Fast' or 'Normal'. Normal is the speed you'd want to run 8-bit software with, most notably games.

Otherwise, if you think you have an accelerator, the easiest way is to pop open the IIGS lid and see if you have a Transwarp GS or ZipGS. After that you'll know whether it's worth chasing up the software to control those (although the Transwarp GS has a control panel of its own).

- Alex

Posted to: System information Show Thread | Post Reply Wed, 10 Jul 2013 04:44:35 +0200 Alex Lee https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714?start=0#post1715 System information https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714#post1714 Is there a software that can tell me my iigs system information?
Like how much ram, cpu speed, etc.

Tx for any comments.

Posted to: System information Show Thread | Post Reply Wed, 03 Jul 2013 22:53:57 +0200 OldGrampa https://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/hardware-forum/show/1714#post1714
