The Conserver was originally released by MDIdeas in 1987, who were a part of PBI Software. When both went bankrupt, the design for the Conserver must have been purchased by Applied Engineering which re-released it circa 1989. The Conserver itself is a surge suppressor and fan (like the Kensington System Saver) for keeping a IIGS cool and collected. It could also store one or two 3.5" disk drives, fitting neatly between the CPU and monitor.
