The 2soniq is the stripped down version of the 4soniq that outputs stereo channels only, with no input for sound, just like traditional sound cards like the Supersonic. The advantage is that this should be much more readily available than the sound cards originally released during the IIGS' heyday.
Another modern alternative that should be more readily available and that does provide mono audio recording as well as stereo output is the Byte Boosters Dark Sound.
