Milestones 2000 is infinitely better than any other type of solitaire card game. Heck, if Microsoft had included this with Windows 3.1, I'd be a Wintel user now!

Maybe not. Anyway, the aim of Milestones is reach either 1500 or 2000 kilometres (interesting, wasn't Ken Franklin from the U.S?). You can only play against the computer, although at the time, that was a sensible decision given that networking wasn't quite so prevalent as it is today. This game could be remade to be played over the net with a chat feature.

But I digress. Again. Travelling to your destination is determined by the deck of cards. You need a 'GO' card before you can even start to move, and the distance you travel is determined by the card you use, which can be travelling a distance of 50, 100, 150, 200 or 400 kilometres in a turn. Other cards can be used on the computer, like giving it a flat tire, a smash, run out of fuel or a 100km/h speed limit. These cards can also be dished out by you and the computer has no mercy. There are also special cards, cards which can make you immune to the hazards your opponent throws at you.

The game is played with the mouse and is very easy to pick up the rules of the game as you play thanks to dialogue messages. If for instance you want to start moving and you have a 'GO' card simply drag it onto your blue car. If you want your opponent to meet with an accident, drag the flat tire card onto his car. The computer will let you know what illegal moves you try to make and why you can't make them.

The game was designed to run with System 5.02 and up, but also plays a treat with System 6.01.
