P8CDA (ProDOS 8 Classic Desk Accessory Loader) will allow you to use CDAs *and* a newer feature from the shareware version, system INITs as well, without having to load ProDOS 16 or GS/OS. Your mileage may vary however regarding compatibility of CDAs and INITs - earlier ones are likely to work best, as newer ones were more likely to tap into specific features of GS/OS and will therefore be incompatible. But potentially, you could have a lightening fast, minimally configured RAM setup using programs like AppleWorks, Springboard Publisher, or GEOS, with the advantage of using some CDAs and INITs. Together with Softswitch, another Roger Wagner utility, you can switch between multiple applications.
This disk image includes v8.8 (quite a leap from the v1.1 of the shareware release)!
