Tower of Myraglen was the first RPG designed specifically for the IIGS.
It also marked a departure for PBI Software as they had only created action arcade games, Cavern Cobra and Sea Strike beforehand.
Myraglen is another RPG in the same vein as Ultima. A top down view provides the perspective by which you control your character. More specifically, Myraglen bares resemblances to Stuart Smith's Adventure Construction Set (published by Electronic Arts for the 8-bit Apple II) which I simply loved. Alas, Myraglen does not fill the void that a non-existant IIGS version of Adventure Construction Set left (damnit, they even made an Amiga version!) as it doesn't contain game editing functions.
Although I haven't played much of Tower of Myraglen, to say it's like Adventure Construction Set is praise. It was a fun, simple way of adventuring, realised by not having to map seemingly endless mazes and corridors. Myraglen's graphics are simple, but colourful and like other PBI games the sound was rather impressive. Just ignore the title graphic...or at the very least, ignore everything else but the silhouette of the horseman! Myraglen's probably a fun adventure, made easy with a IIGS point and click interface. I'll get round to actually playing it properly one day!
