If you're puzzled by RAM, accelerators or disc controllers then chances are someone will have the answer to your questions.

Is there a software that can tell me my iigs system information?
Like how much ram, cpu speed, etc.
Tx for any comments.

Hi OldGrampa!
The easiest way to find out how much memory your IIGS has is to intitate the old 3 finger salute of open apple–control–escape to bring up the classic control panel.
Select 'Control Panel' and then at the bottom of the selection, choose 'RAM Disk'. If you do this while no program is running, the total free RAM is a good indicator of much physical RAM you have installed.
As for CPU speed, you can control that from the control panel as well, although it only reveals 'Fast' or 'Normal'. Normal is the speed you'd want to run 8-bit software with, most notably games.
Otherwise, if you think you have an accelerator, the easiest way is to pop open the IIGS lid and see if you have a Transwarp GS or ZipGS. After that you'll know whether it's worth chasing up the software to control those (although the Transwarp GS has a control panel of its own).

Thank you for the reply.
I have a IIGS setup,
that I want to show on one screen,
what constitues my IIGS.
I would like to send a pic of the screen,
that would show Ram & CPU speed,
because this machine has a transwarp,
and some other chips on the motherboard.
I seem to remember there was some software made to do this.

There are many pieces of software that provide an overview of what you're wanting to see. For example, Instant Access v3. The standard System 6 preinstall image I provide on the home page of this site (http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/files/harddrive_image.zip) comes IA3, which you can find in the system folder. Once IA3 has loaded, go to the 'Options' Menu and select 'System Info...'. It will display total and free memory as well as the ROM version and CPU speed (although it's not very accurate).
Other programs you could check out include UtilityWorks (which is on the Audio and Utilities 32 meg volume available from the homepage) and Super Info III, an NDA available on the System Addons volume (look inside the NDAs folder, the Utilities.

Another program I remember that provides system info is NoiseTracker v1.0: http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/noisetracker
The most accurate way to measure the speed of a ZipGS is using its drivers and software:
http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/zipgsx
You can also find a Transwarp GS CDev on the System Addons 32 meg volume as well.

Sorry for the delay in replying again!
Do you want to 'open' the .HDV file to see its contents in Linux or do you want to use the .HDV with an emulator? GSPort, ActiveGS and KEGS emulators can all mount .HDV volumes with which you can boot a virtual Apple IIGS.
